Riso Workshop

 16/10/2025

Ceri ran a risk workshop where we all created A5 riso prints with three layers of colour. We could use previous artworks or quickly create new ones, but I used one of my zombie illustration and used the Lightbox to mark out the other layers on separate papers. We also had some spare space on the paper so I was allowed to make a couple of small risos, so I drew a quick zombie head and a clown.

This is what the different layers looked like. It was actually quite exciting not knowing what the prints were going to turnout like, but as I understand it there are programs and ways of planning it out a lot more if you wanted to.

We chose dark, medium and light colours so that they would layer nicely. I knew my zombie drawing would be the darkest colour and then I wanted to colour in the armour so that it would standout more, I also thought that adding more blood with a lighter colour would add more movement to my work which is what I love.

I really love the way it turned out and I am definitely going to experiment with it further. The process of riso was quite simple and using the printer was a lot easier than I thought it'd be (obviously I will need some practice before I remember it all).
Me and Helena have planned to do some riso prints together which I think will help both of us learn the process more.
