Group Tutorial

 23/10/2025

I had another group tutorial with Ceri. This time it had been two weeks since I spoke to Ceri so I told her about my observational drawing book and the little bits of writing I'd done.

She recommended that I experiment with the media that I use in my little book and allowed me to play with a brush pen she really liked (I ended up buying one myself). I had also expressed the pressure I felt to make the people look 'good' in my observational drawing because they are my friends, so she suggested I try and go out by myself and draw strangers. I am quite hesitant to do this because I am quite an anxious person but I am willing to try :)

She also suggested that I try some storyboarding. She expressed that I don't need to be precious about it, that my process can be very crazy and back and fourth, which definitely relieved me of some of the stress I was feeling about the story creating process.

Typography Workshop

 20/10/2025

Ros ran a typography workshop that allowed us to play with letter blocks and stamping inks. I quite like typography, especially horror fonts for movies and comics so I played with that mostly. But the letter blocks did leave a nice texture and if I wanted to I could make all different textures with them down in the letterpress.

I also ended up playing with normal ink using my fingers to draw, which was messy but gave the type more movement and energy. Which I found works for a scream. If I am going to make a comic, the fonts and typography affect the way the text is read and can help a lot with the story telling. So, I will have to think about font more and get used to them.

Final Comic and Printing

After a lot of InDesign and colour printing troubles, I was able to print a nice copy of the final product. I will need to print more to se...
