The Storyboarding Journey

After talking to my friends and peers a lot about my story I final landed on something that I felt confident with. Its been a very 'all over the place' way of getting there but story writing isn't my strong suit.

I made a lot of shorter stories in the beginning of my project I decided to stick with that because I am not a writer and didn't want to create something complex. My comic will be made up of two short stories, each of them being 5 double pages long, and then I will have a double page spread in the middle for the zombie ant fungi.

The first story will be introducing the main character, she will try to dress up as a zombie to fit in but they see through her deception and chase her. she gets cornered and then bitten, just when she thinks she is done for it turns out that she is immune. ... It a certain type of horror to be stuck alone and immune to the virus in a zombie apocalypse, this hopefully shows the theme of 'othering'.

In the second story the main character realizes the zombies are all going in one direction and she decides to follow them. She is lead to a tall building where it seems all the zombies are climbing to the top. She trys to follow them but she is scared of heights and therefore turns around at the last second. The audience is left with a few shots of the zombies on the top of building and the fungi merges into a tall tentacle and releases lots of spores.

The second story is a lot more vague and crazy, Focusing a bit more on the horror of nature and then the main character being othered by the fact she cant follow them.  I didn't want the ending to be clear because that is my favorite type of ending in film. The audience doesn't have to know everything and they can interpret what they want.

A3 storyboard sheets, to try and get the pace of the story and key moments.

Worked on them more in detail on A4 sheets. and stapled them together to become a booklet that I can refer back to.

Presentation Day

We had our 'Mid Year' project reviews and had to create a presentation about our projects and where we were at (essentially). We were given a bunch of questions to answer and had to make a 'Pecha Kucha' presentation, which is 20 slides that each last 20 seconds.

So I slowly pulled together all my work and created slides that represent my work and style. I was very nervous about preforming the presentation but I practiced with Jade and Helena many times before hand and felt very prepared.

I found that creating the presentation helped me understand my project a lot better and I could finally get a grasp of what I still needed to do. I am also quite proud of my slides and I think I didn't do to bad when presenting (I also handled the questions at the end very well!).

Me and Helena rewarded ourselves with a meal at Pie and Vinyl (a cafe that sells pies and vinyl) afterwards, which was amazing!

v The meal in question :)

All my slides (I know I could have linked the powerpoint but I wanted a separate documentation of them)

Final Comic and Printing

After a lot of InDesign and colour printing troubles, I was able to print a nice copy of the final product. I will need to print more to se...
